☀️ Host Jason Connell returns for a "Weekly Reflection" episode of Good Thinking, and shares a five-star Apple Podcasts review, and encourages more ratings while noting the show’s 4.8 average across 26 ratings. He introduces the new theme, patience, drawing from his recovery after a car accident and a frustrating experience buying a replacement car that overheated soon after purchase, leaving him car-less for nearly three weeks while waiting on repairs and riding a bicycle to physical therapy and yoga. He explains how staying calm, focusing on what he could control, and not rushing the mechanic became a lesson in practicing what he preaches. He closes with five takeaways: patience brings peace of mind, strengthens relationships, supports thoughtful decisions, builds resilience during challenges, and allows growth to happen naturally.

Just curious. Welcome to Just Curious Media. This is Good Thinking, and I'm Jason Connell. So I'm back with another weekly reflection episode. Very exciting. And last week we had the theme of starting and following through. I hope everybody jumped on some projects they'd been putting off, self-included. And now we're transitioning into a new theme, but I'm going to hold that for a second because we got a five-star review on Apple Podcast. And I'm going to read it now and hopefully encourage more people to do so. Here we go. Simple yet profound. Five stars. And it's from NSH78. That's their handle. I love these beautifully produced segments. They bring clarifying ideas into my life in a seamless way. I was excited to get a new episode. Well, thank you so much, NSH78. There are episodes coming out every day, so please keep tuning in. And I'm truly touched by your words, simple yet profound. And I'm excited to produce more episodes just for you. But if anyone else wants to share and be on the show, at least what they wrote on the show, please do so. It means so much to us. And we're getting some more five-star ratings as well. And I'm looking at our ratings now on Apple, and we're 4.8. We have a lot of five-star ratings. There's 26 ratings in all. I'd say all but two are five-star. We have one four-star. Okay, all right, four-star, but we need the fives. And then looks like we have one one-star. And if someone doesn't like something, just move on. Now, also, I've noticed on Apple one star could be an easy mistake because you can go to the ratings and one comes up and you click it and you move on. So it also could be a mistake. So it happens, but I want to encourage everybody to help us get our numbers up. Just click five stars, please. Thank you very, very much. All right, transitioning into the theme, and it is patience, the power of patience. And I just experienced this myself, having been in the car accident and still recuperating. That's patience, sure. But specifically in the process of me getting a new car. So I got a new car, a replacement car. And as I drove away from the buyer, it overheated on the freeway. Literally, I made it 15, 20 minutes, overheated, smoke everywhere. I barely make it to the shoulder. And I'm in LA and it's crazy busy, and I make it over. And I'm thinking, what just happened? I call AAA, they come safely, they get me home. I'm talking to the buyer. And then the buyer, after I share with them, you know, I'll go have my mechanic look at it, I'll be in touch. They disappeared. So now I just have this car that I can't even drive. My mechanic checked it out and said it was going to be an expensive job, but they could fix it. So I got a good deal on the car. So with the repairs, I really essentially paid full value for the car. So it's not terrible, but it was unplanned. And it was going to take time. They had to order special parts, they had to slot me in. And if they were going to do me a solid and kind of make it as inexpensive as possible, I was like, take your time. So for about two and a half, three weeks, I was carless. Back on a bicycle, just being patient and riding my bicycle to physical therapy, to the yoga studio as a heel. I still have injuries I'm dealing with. And it was really a lesson in patience. And as opposed to missing what I wanted, I was so focused on when I have it, when I'm past this, I'll be in a happy place. And in the meantime, I'll just focus on what I can. And I just was incredibly patient. I wasn't bugging the mechanic shop. I was letting them get back to me at their own time. And I finally got my car back this past Friday. So it was a true lesson for me. I think years ago, I would have been out of my mind. Like, what can I do? Oh my gosh. But I just really dug in. And obviously, doing good thinking and having a daily yoga practice has helped me just practice what I preach. So there you go. You can be in a tough situation. You can just look ahead, focus on how you're going to feel after the fact, and just keep yourself preoccupied. Focus on what you can control. If you can control anything at all, or focus on what you can do to fill your time and exercise patience. All right, to that point. Here are five takeaways about the power of patience. Number one, patience creates greater peace of mind. Allowing life to unfold without constant urgency reduces stress and supports emotional balance. Absolutely. I feel like I just talked about some of this, but yeah, allowing life to unfold without constant urgency. We all want things right away, but if you learn how to kind of pace yourself and set your expectations, you will be exercising patience. And it's a very powerful thing. And as it says, more peace of mind. Number two, patience strengthens relationships. Giving people, conversations, and situations time to develop encourages deeper understanding and connection. Yeah, nobody wants to deal with a pushy person, right? Crossing your boundaries. So if there's patience on both sides, there's a respect level, there's a deepening of the bond, of the connection, and stronger relationships. Number three, patience supports thoughtful decisions. Slowing down before reacting allows for clear thinking and wiser choices. Well, I love that. Thoughtful decisions. Slowing down will lead to clear thinking and wiser choices. That's great. Yeah, whenever you're in a hurry and you're trying to like speed up the process, you're probably not going to come to the outcome that you would have if you just took a beat. You know, they always say, take 10 deep breaths, and that sounds so cliche, but just do it when you're feeling stressed out about something. And you'll realize, oh yes, that actually works. So very, very good and on point there. Number four, patience builds resilience during challenges. Trusting the process helps create steadiness through uncertainty, setbacks, and change. Yes, you're going to face challenges in life. So the more patience you have, the calmer you are, you can steady the ship as you avoid any and all pitfalls on your way to your ultimate goal. And number five, patience allows growth to happen naturally. Meaningful progress often takes time, and patience creates space for lasting development and fulfillment. Yeah, how great is that? Patience allows growth to happen naturally. Yeah, the more patient you are, so many benefits are happening within you, which is fantastic. And patience is just such a mindset and a way of life. If you're a more patient person, you're inherently more calm and centered because you're not reacting to things as much. Yeah, you're internalizing, but you're not reacting, externalizing these things. So, all in all, it makes for a more positive, grounded, happy person. So there you have it. Five takeaways about patience, the power of patience. And of course, this theme will transition into the upcoming positive affirmations as well. So that's it. I hope you enjoyed it. And thank you so, so very much for listening. Please continue to do so, subscribe, rate, and review, and we'll see you next time.
