🌿 Good Thinking: Daily Positive Affirmations & Growth Mindset

☀️ Host Jason Connell returns for a "Weekly Reflection" episode of Good Thinking, and introduces a new theme: starting and following through, shifting from the prior focus on facing fears. He shares five takeaways: starting creates momentum; action turns intention into reality; follow-through strengthens discipline, consistency, and growth; action reduces hesitation and delay by emphasizing progress; and completion builds confidence through accomplishment. Connell illustrates the points with his experience making a documentary about movie extras in Hollywood, noting many people had similar ideas but never acted, while his project took three years instead of six months and ultimately earned festival awards. He closes by noting it’s May, expressing excitement for the new theme, and asking listeners to subscribe, rate, and share the show.

Just curious. Welcome to Just Curious Media. This is Good Thinking, and I'm Jason Connell. So I'm back with another weekly reflection episode. And our theme is shifting. It is going from facing one's fears, which you should keep doing. But the new theme is starting and following through. It's like the opposite of procrastination. And since this is a positive show, we're not focusing on the term procrastination. We're focusing on starting and following through. So here are five useful takeaways to that theme. Number one, starting creates momentum. Beginning a task builds energy that makes progress easier over time. Right. Sometimes just getting it off the ground helps you build that momentum you need to sustain. Because there's going to be times things take longer. They're more challenging than you thought they were. But that momentum can carry you on and build that energy that you need. Number two, action turns intention into reality. Ideas gain meaning when they are put into motion and carried forward. I do love that. Intention into reality. And yeah, ideas are cheap, okay? I moved to LA many years ago, and I had an idea for my first documentary, which was about movie extras trying to make it in Hollywood. And I was not just talking about my idea, I was thinking about next steps. How do I do this? How do I get into production? And I did, but a lot of people I talked to would tell me, oh, I've had that idea for years, something about extras, and yeah, highlighting them. But I heard it more than 10 times. A lot of people had ideas, but they didn't take any steps after that. So it just stayed as an idea. And if you want to bring something to life and bring it into reality, you have to take action, you have to get it started, and you have to follow through. Number three, follow through strengthens discipline. Completing what is started builds habits that support consistency and growth. Yes, it builds a discipline, a discipline of completion, and not being afraid to put in the hard work it's going to take to finish whatever you're working on, whatever idea you have. But I do like that supports consistency and growth. These are wonderful habits to have, and habits that will come to you by starting something and putting the energy into it to complete it. Number four, action reduces hesitation. Moving forward shifts focus away from delay and into progress. Procrastination, hesitation, these are words we want to avoid if we want to be productive and we want to have a more positive lifestyle and finish what we started, or even start what we want to start. And number five, completion builds confidence. Finishing what is started creates a sense of accomplishment and reinforces forward movement. Exactly. Building confidence. Taking an idea from inception all the way through the pipeline to completion will only build confidence. Let's go back to that first movie. I had ideas, I put it into motion, I thought I'd be done in six months. It took three years, but I stuck with it, myself and my team, because I saw the end goal. I couldn't stop after six months. I took it all the way and I reaped the rewards and awards by winning festival awards at various festivals throughout the country and internationally. But I wouldn't have achieved that had I not persevered and went all the way to completion. So there you have it, a new theme, super positive. I'm really excited. And we're also in a new month. We're into May. And I hope that the momentum that we have from the show continues as well. And we only get that from fans tuning in, subscribing, rating five stars, and sharing it with others. So thank you all so very, very much, and we'll see you next time.
